My Name is Leon

CaptureThis is Kit de Waal’s first novel, and we need more like it. When Leon’s mum doesn’t return to their flat, both he and his baby brother Jake are sent to a foster home. Eventually, it transpires Jake will be adopted, but Leon won’t be: and the only difference between them is their skin colour. This is a refreshing, angry read about prejudice, family and how we grow up.
